Product Information
This is the JensenVRD-1FF Cable TV Ground Loop Isolator - Analog, Digital and Cable Modem Compatible - Supercedes the Model VR-1FF.
Is your subwoofer or loudspeakers humming even though the volume is all the way down? 9 out of 10 times this humming is caused by a ground loop which is caused by your cable TV, rooftop antenna or satellite video tuner earth ground connection - NEVER DEFEAT OR REMOVE THE CABLE TV OR DISH ANTENNA GROUND!. These sources are ideally (and necessarily) grounded on the outside of your house to a pipe in the ground or to your plumbing for electrical safety. All of your other home theater equipment is normally grounded to your electrical system. These different 2 sources of ground (earth and electrical) fight each other and their battle ground is the 60Hz frequency - right in the middle of your subwoofers frequency response. You could also have noise in other full-range speakers in your system.
To test the theory, with all power turned off or disconnected, remove the incoming cable TV/satellite/antenna signal wire that is connected to your satellite tuner/cable tuner/receiver or remove all audio and video connections from your cable tuner/satellite box to your receiver. Turn your system and subwoofer on and if the hum is gone, you found the source. Cue the Jensen VRD-1FF Isolation transformer intro music.
By connecting the Jensen VRD-1FF transformer to the incoming TV cable(s) you effectively isolate the the 2 grounds from each other without any signal loss. There are cheaper solutions to do this but none that work as reliably and without side effects as the Jensen VRD-1FF solution. We have recommended them for years and now we sell them.
