Product Information

Upgrade! - Trade-in your old NHT subwoofer! Download the Sub Upgrade Program on the right hand side for more information.

The NHT B-10d subwoofer is a compact high-end subwoofer for home theater and music systems that says you're dead serious about good sound. It combines 23 years of speaker building know-how to deliver more bang for the buck than any NHT 10” sub we ever built.

Outside - The B-10d subwoofer is a tiny 12.6" cube – don’t let its size fool you; the B-10d packs a punch. The B-10d’s air suspension cabinet has no ports to interact with its surroundings so it’s ok to put it wherever it fits in your space. Aluminum leveling spikes are included to anchor the B-10d to carpeted floors and four aluminum floor protectors are included to slip the cones into to protect your hardwood floors. Like all NHT Classic speakers, the B-10d is wrapped in NHT’s 10-coat piano gloss black finish.

Inside - Start with 300 watts of really smart, efficient power. For the techies, it’s a BASH (Class D) amplifier with a switching power supply. Unlike traditional amplifiers, the B-10d’s super-efficient design converts most of the juice coming from your wall to bass, instead of heat so you can rock and stay green at the same time. The real voodoo is the B-10d's factory-programmed DSP (digital signal processing) engine. We use this DSP to control the phase-perfect crossovers, internal EQ, a sophisticated limiter, compressor and more. The woofer itself is a long-throw, pulp cone design with a butyl rubber surround. Both the cone and the massive motor structure it’s attached to were custom designed by NHT specifically for the B-10d. This driver creates some very high pressure inside the B-10d’s sealed box, so we lined the interior cabinet walls with a 1 mm thick sheet of aluminum to eliminate any ideas cabinet flex. The result is the B-10d subwoofer goes lower and plays louder with more control than any 10" sub we've ever built.

Backside – It’s easy to integrate the B-10d with your stereo or surround sound rig. The B-10d has LFE inputs for your receiver’s sub out, line inputs for your fancy 2-channel integrated amp, and a set of speaker level inputs and outputs so older receiver with no subwoofer out can play. A phase switch, and two-position “Movie” or “Music” EQ switch round out the B10d’s adjustments. The B-10d 's smart power supply auto adjusts to deliver its full output anywhere in the world with 100v to 240v at 50 or 60Hz. The auto power mode turns the B-10d on and off when it hears a signal from your system or select the "Always On" for remote power switching.

The Sound – Like all NHT subwoofers the B-10d sounds powerful and natural while playing music or movies. If you’re considering a subwoofer that will seamlessly blend into your system, not dominate your room and always fool you into thinking all the sound is coming from your main speakers – your search is over.

Elegant

What a great sound from such a small package! NHT has once again come through with a high quality product at a very reasonable price! This sub is beautiful! NHT speakers have the most awesome piano black finish...match that with the sound and you just can't go wrong. I have the B-10d matched up with a pair of Classic Zero's. The sound is terrific. The bass is hard, fast, detailed, but yet remains musical. The music/movie switch on the rear of the sub works perfectly. There are numerous ways to connect this sub to your system. NHT, you have outdone yourselves with this one! If you’re new to NHT and possibly skeptical, do some online searches on their products. You won’t find anything negative…and if you purchase a pair, you will understand what the NHT stands for…NOW HEAR THIS!

unobtrusive

Unobtrusive both visually and sonically. The thing is a pefect little cube, so small and the look is fantastic. I have it paired with the classic 3's and NAD amplfication. I am not versed in audiophile jargon, but I will say that it blends so well witht the 3's it is as if they are one speaker. To say I am satisfied would be an understatement. I simply won't consider another company for my speaker needs in the future. Thank you for making excellent products at palatable prices.

Low and Clean Bass

I have had my B-10d for about a month now and it is everything I hoped it would be. The reviews on this site are pretty accurate. I have it paired with a set of Paradigm AMS-150Rs for home theater (and music) and it blends perfectly. I do not use the movie switch as I find the sub to be very balanced in the music position. This sub goes very low and is very accurate with no boominess. Not to mention it is gorgeous. I am not sure there is a better sub this size that is as powerful and clean for under $1000 - and maybe not then. If you are on the fence, jump.

Perfect Pitch

The combination of the B-10d, a pair of Absolute Zero's and an Absolute Center has litterally brought my HT alive. I was sceptical that a 10" acoustic suspension sub would fill my large room but once it was dialed in using the Audyssey MutliEQ on my Denon the sound is perfect. I dialed it in using the "Music" setting, listened to a couple hours of my favorite tracks then switched over to the "Movie" setting and invited some people over to watch a couple Blu-Rays and everyone was simply amazed at the quality and room filling capability of this combination. One musician friend said the combination had "Perfect Pitch" hence the title of this review. For reference, I replaced a Paradigm Studio 20 (12 years old) / CC-200 (16 years old) / Velodyne VA-1012 (16 years old) system and everyone said I was crazy, until they heard it!

Amazing sub, superb upgrade

Bought the Super Surround system with 5 SuperZero 2.0s and Super 8 sub last year; it sounded great, but I guess I am a bass head, I thought the bass was a little thin. After much (over) deliberation, got this to replace the Super 8 . . . brilliant bass. Having a larger sub that is working effortlessly sounds much cleaner than having a smaller sub cranked up to max output. No distortion. Really superb. I also picked up a couple of B-12d's, but that's another review.
