The iC4 is NHT's high end and probably the world's best 8" in-ceiling speaker. It features an all aluminum version of NHT’s patented 3-tweeter array that produces flat frequency response up to 60 degrees off-axis and creates a consistent sound-field. No more hot spots and "not" spots, just a smooth, even response, with great intelligibility no matter where you are in the room. The iC4's 8" woofer enables the speaker to go down to 40Hz! No subwoofer required!

The iC4 is recommended for the most critical fixed-installation and distributed sound applications in your home, office or in commercial installations. It is suitable for the highest performance home theaters, high end stereo system, dens, dining rooms, master bedrooms, patios, outdoor eves and walls (note depth is greater than 3.5" 2 x 4 wall construction) and waiting rooms for high end services and secondary locations where high quality music and speech are desired and budgets allow the best possible in-ceiling speaker solution available - period.

The iC4 is a very high quality 2-way system, employing a 8" anodized aluminum woofer and a coaxially mounted 3 x 1" anodized aluminum dome tweeter array managed by a very high quality 2nd order crossover network. The iC4 can play loudly with very low distortion because it's all aluminum drive units can cool efficiently - heat causes a speaker to change characteristics which adds distortions. The drive units are also moisture resistant, all the hardware is stainless steel, the frame is polypropylene and the mounting lip is gasketed which allows use in bathrooms, pool, patio and other high moisture areas. A proprietary diffuser is also included for the inside grill center which provides a smooth response when a listener is located directly under the speaker.

The iC4, like all NHT architectural speakers is designed for easy installation and is ruggedly built. A convenient cardboard template for the cutout is included to make installation location and retrofit cutting easier. The iC4 has a fail-proof, 4-point spring-loaded, dog ear clamping system that grabs the ceiling material like a politician at a BBQ, even when the mounting surface is uneven, with integrity and simplicity. The springs maintains the pressure and seal with the ceiling surface and therefore eliminates the speaker from coming loose and paint lines from cracking over the life of the installation.  This features is important because typical sheetrock compresses when clamped - non-spring loaded, rigid clamping systems will become loose over time and begin to vibrate and the air seal can leak causing the speaker to lose bass and crack the paint line.  The speaker terminals are easy to use, high quality gold plated spring loaded - push to open types which maintain contact with the speaker wire even when the big one hits.


For new construction, NHT makes the ICB8 - a new construction framing bracket which allows you accurately place the speakers location during the framing stages of construction much like a recessed lighting fixture.  The iCB8 provides a lip that the sheetrock or wall finishing crew flushes up to to provide perfecting mounting for the iC4.  Note, the iCB8 is NOT required for retrofit in existing construction.

The iC4 is painted with a neutral white primer and may be painted to match with typical latex paints. When painting, the grill and speaker frame is painted separately.  A convenient cardboard paint shield is included to protect the drive units in the speaker frame.

The iC4 and all other NHT iC speakers models are sold in stereo pairs only.

Well Worth The Investment

I purchased four of these little beasts to use as surrounds. In a previous set up I had iC2's and they were great. This time I wanted no compromise, especially since I planned to upgrade to separates. When I took them out of the box I was extremely impressed with the build quality. Rock solid. My installer was equally impressed.  The iC4's sound great no matter what movie I watch. Salt, The Town, I Robot. The tunnel chase in IRobot sounds amazing. The sound stage is big, enveloping and seamless. I have all NHT speakers in my system including VT-2 towers, and a VS-2 center. I recently added Wyred 4 Sound 7 x 220 Amp. Everything including the iC4's when called upon sounds unbelievable. I couldn't be more pleased.
