One look at the iW4 and you know something serious is going on. The iW4 is our powerhouse architectural product. In a good installation, if you closed your eyes, you might think you were listening to a pair of Classic 3’s on stands. Outrageous dynamics, terrific bass, high output and yet it loses none of the detail. The IW4 is the perfect in-wall home theater system speaker.
The IW4 uses two 5.25” polypropylene woofers, a 2” aluminum dome midrange, and a .75” aluminum dome tweeter. This Tweeter-Midrange module is used in all 3-way Classic series designs. The midrange has its own internal chamber reducing comb filtering and improving detail. The advantage of a dual-woofer 3-way design is low distortion and wide dispersion, changing the sweet “spot” to a sweet “room” for listening.
The IW4 is easily installed. iW4B brackets are included with every speaker and available separately for pre-construction location. The MDF wood baffle is removable separately if service is required. Sold individually.
Adding a Subwoofer: Adding a NHT Classic subwoofer to a pair of IW4s will extend the bass an additional octave, further reduce distortion, and improve dynamics. We recommend the Classic B-12d for the perfect match followed by the Classic B-10d
Mixing and Matching: Building a home theater system? All NHT speakers are designed and voiced with the same design goals so you have the freedom to use any of our Classic Series speakers, and our best In-Ceiling Speakers with the IW4.
If you're using the IW4 as your left and right front speakers and need a free standing center channel speaker, we'd recommend using either the Classic TwoC or Classic Three C .
Using your IW4 as surround or surround back channels and need front speakers to match? The Classic Four Tower speaker or Classic Three bookshelf speaker would be a great match.
Using the IW4s in the front and need rear speakers? You've got a lot of options. A perfect match would be another set of IW4s, or perhaps the IC4 in-ceiling speakers, or Classic Threes for surround and back channels, but many people opt for the Classic Absolute Zero's in Black or White because of their compact size.
