C 3 Bookshelf Loudspeaker
Arrived with broken speaker grills and was charged $100 for return shipping. In home trial is nice but puts buyer in a bad spot when product doesn’t arrive like new and returns are expensive.
Great Speaker, even Greater ServiceSS 10 Subwoofer
Objective stuff first. This is a punchy, sharp sounding subwoofer in a small package. I've had larger with less sound. The acoustic suspension design eliminates the bass port found on most subwoofers, thus, eliminating the mud associated with the overlay of false bass. What comes out of the speaker is clear, unadulterated, punchy bass, modulated correctly to suit their companion NHT Super Zero surround, and the NHT Center channel speakers. I replaced a higher power, larger subwoofer with this unit, as the old one was simply too much for the theater room. Too much thump, and not enough quality sound.
Now, the subjective. When s___ happens, and it will if it can, what a company does to make their customer happy, makes all the difference in the world. It changes a bad situation into one of sublime happiness. In our case, we ordered this sub directly from NHT, having purchased the other NHT equipment from Amazon. I knew I'd like it, so, why not. Price was not an issue, and free shipping made it a happy plan. And why not let the manufacturer make all the money, and not pay a fulfillment penalty. The Subwoofer arrived promptly, on the day promised, but unfortunately, it would not function properly. I won't go into the litany of issues, but suffice to say, it was not a satisfactory speaker. I Called NHT, and spoke with a fellow named Bob (could be an owner, I don't know), and he talked me through a series of experiments and tests, all of which did not correct my issue. At all times I was spoken to deferentially, never talked down to, nor was I ever subjected to trade jargon. After all the tests were done, NHT promptly sent me out another speaker, and this one deployed smoothly, and performed as advertised. NHT sent me a shipping label, and all I had to do was box the speaker up, and bring it to UPS (we live in the boonies, so no UPS pick up unless they are here for something else). Once UPS accepted the package, NHT sent out the new one, so not a lot of lost time in between. Good Job, NHT!!!
I've had other defective equipment from other manufacturers in the past, and the experience was not always so smooth and accommodating. Typically, it was like trying to give myself a root canal with my Black and Decker. NHT was there to do the right thing, as they know they have a superior product that could be rendered less so by poor service.
I can seriously recommend all NHT speaker products for their superior sound, excellent engineering, and reasonable cost. Don't be afraid, Grasshopper! Thanks for Reading. Sincerely, Traveling Chef 37

In the late 90's I enjoyed the sublime imaging of a full 5.1 NHT system (I forget the model now, but they were angled inward with side firing drivers). Along the way, I got married, sacrificed my treasured NHT system for a more wife friendly tiny Bose 5.1 system, then had kids and moved to a Yamaha DSP, and now I've even discarded that and am just listening to TV speakers (*shudder*). Great audio lost its priority, mostly because I'm at the age where "who has time for TV and music" - I'm either listening with headphones on a plane or in front of my computer.
Several years ago I decided that I wanted NHT in walls and ceilings throughout the house. Although my memory of the good old days with NHT was hazy, I knew they were among the best speakers I ever heard. After years of procrastination, today iC4's were installed on my patio. The verdict? I didn't know how much I was suffering over the past 15 years until today. Within 10 seconds of hearing them, my reaction was just "Wow". Tight bass. unbelievable detail. Holographic imaging. The sound fills my entire yard / pool area from just two iC4's under my covered patio. Two iC4's replaced Sonos speakers on the patio and there is simply no comparison (although the iC4's are powered by a Sonos Connect Amp). It's an unfair comparison I guess, but bass, mids, highs, and detail are across the board far far better than the Play:5's. If I had to pick one nit, I'll say the grill could be more flush with the ceiling (the bezel sticks out about 1/8") but my wife commented "you don't even see them" so I think that's a pass.
Next step is to add iW4's for my TV front and center channels, and get my iC3's installed in the kitchen and living room. The only hard decision is what to power them with.
Highly recommended. I wish I would have pulled the trigger long ago.
Original 30 year old Super Ones!NHT SuperOne 2.1
I just listened to some megabuck B&Ws and Def. Tech. and others today. My "cheap" Classic 3s are better and my 30 year old Super Ones are as good or better as well. I'm talking about speakers costing 4 to 12 thousand a pair! Thanks, John

Beautiful sounding speakersC 4 Floor Standing Tower Speaker
These are beautiful sounding speakers. I listen to a wide variety of music, everything from classical and opera, jazz, rock, pop, etc.. These speakers sound great with all of them. I do have a nice sub-woofer paired with them, which is helpful. But, I do not think I could find better speakers for the money.
Excellent within size constrainsC 3 Bookshelf Loudspeaker
Aging audiophile looking for true bookshelf to stick in bookcase; looking for very flat non colored response; excellent transient response.
Tried multiple systems : ported sounded always boomy; Devialet Gold Phantoms needed much space around ( omnidirectional) . Received a pair C3 at home on 30 day approval (Best way to test I know!!) Fantastic !! Very flat non colored fairly good transient (my old ears have problems > 8kHz so transients more difficult to hear than 50 years ago).
I think nothing beats for non colored flat response sealed box. 3 way blend into each other smoothly, do not hear notching.
Of course cut off below 80 or so Hz; have Cambridge powered subwoofer after some adjustments fills in bottom frequency without boominess.
Very nice finish; modest in size ( compared to my old AR3A's...)
Moved them a little : location seems to affect sound little
Price independent 4 stars considering price all 5 stars.
Highly recommended specially with refundable home trail offer.
WOW !!!!NHT SuperOne 2.1
I bought these speakers as a second pair for my main system or for possible future use in a second bedroom system. Straight out the box, I already prefer them to my "main" speakers. They are more accurate, natural, transparent, and musically engaging. The real bass of these acoustic suspension speakers makes the bass on my ported speakers sound flabby in comparison. There is not a significant difference in sensitivity with my 50 watt per channel Arcam integrated amp. It is a shame that there are so few companies making acoustic suspension speakers these days, since the bass performance really is superior to ported designs. I remembered NHT from the days when we had a brick and morter dealer here that sold them. He always touted NHT as a superior value to other, better known brands and used to talk about not being able to sell a second speaker brand because people would generally prefer the NHTs. I wish I had listened to him earlier. Better late than never. NHT proves that "exotic" materials and marketing hype do not make better sound.
Awesome, just awesomeM7
Purchased to upgrade my Two C center channel, which was quite good, but this is on another level. Right out of the box, there was more presence, authority and a complete absence of strain at high levels. Very nice and massive build, extremely solid and low resonance cabinet.
I like the designC Squared Premium Earbuds
I like the design and the sound its great
This Speakers its great because have a amazing sound
Love the classic sound produced when playing through a newly acquired turntable. Twenty years with several pairs in a home theatre application as well. Keep the tradition going!
Great Little SubSS 10 Subwoofer
I can't believe how good this little sub sounds, energizes the whole family room. I recommend boosting it off an uncarpeted floor by about 1.5 to 2 in. with neoprene or rubber pads for best results. couldn't be happier!
Very good speakersC 1 Bookshelf Speaker
I have had many NHT speakers, including the NHT 3.3 bi-amped with Krell amps. Had to downsize years ago, and with the C 1s I dont feel I miss a thing. No, there is no pants fluttering bass, like the 3.3s but much of the music I listen to, does not have that type of bass anyway. I did not realize how good the c 1s where, until I did a direct comparison with the more expensve Bryson speakers. The detail and openness of these speakers for the price is amazing.
AmazingCS 10 Subwoofer
I previously owned the BD10 for several years. I traded it in for 2 of these. 1 just didn't quite fill my home theater room. Once I completed hooking them up and watched my first explosion scene I had a huge smile on my face. I am very impressed in the low range and feel these sub's provide. My theater room is about 12ft wide and 20ft long. I just can't express how much more enjoyable it is to watch movies now, with the thunder these 2 bad boys provide!
