Low and Clean Bass

B-10d Powered Subwoofer with DSP
Rating:

I have had my B-10d for about a month now and it is everything I hoped it would be. The reviews on this site are pretty accurate. I have it paired with a set of Paradigm AMS-150Rs for home theater (and music) and it blends perfectly. I do not use the movie switch as I find the sub to be very balanced in the music position. This sub goes very low and is very accurate with no boominess. Not to mention it is gorgeous. I am not sure there is a better sub this size that is as powerful and clean for under $1000 - and maybe not then. If you are on the fence, jump.

Very Pleased!

Absolute Tower Speaker
Rating:

I generally don't write reviews. But I am making an exception this time. From the moment I opened the box, I was very pleased. The appearance and build quality are great. They would look good in any room. I coupled them with a new NHT TwoC center channel and movies came alive with clear and crisp sound. Family members were all impressed with the sound when visiting during the Holidays.

Fantastic speakers!

Classic Three Bookshelf Loudspeaker
Rating:

I've had a lot of high end speakers over the past twenty years and up until I purchased the NHT Classic three's, I never thought I would find one that could compete with the Paradigm Studio 20's ver. 2 (which I think is one of the best bookshelf speakers ever made.) Well, not only did I find the NHT Classic Three's could compete with the Paradigm's, they were actually better in almost every aspect! The midrange is fantastic and the bass is punchy and well controlled. The highs are detailed and smooth. The soundstage is also unreal... you definitely don't feel like you are listening to speakers. Nice job NHT, you have a customer for a very long time.

First thought visually and sonically, is WOW. Again, WOW! Now that I’m done with that, here’s my story. I originally purchased one B-10d and one B-12d for a 25’ x 27’ theater room. After speaking with Jeff Coats at NHT, I decided to use the B-10d in a Classic Zero setup (excellent idea!) and purchase another B-12d for my theater room. Jeff suggested that there is something magical about having dual NHT12’s in a theater setup. Jeff was right again! Oh my goodness, I was not prepared when I first turned my system on with NHT dual B-12d’s, again Wow. (My son says it sounds EPIC!) I have only heard one 12” woofer that even came close to sounding this good. The B-12d would literally blow that sub out of the water! This is a very musical and revealing subwoofer. I give yet another thumbs up to great new NHT product! If you have one of these or any other NHT product, help them out and submit a review. I know I always read reviews before purchasing and if you’re reading this, you do too! Spread the love and review your NHT products. We all want to have a good idea what we’re buying and want some assurance before our purchases…even if it is negative. I have been extremely pleased with everything I have purchased from NHT and the customer support they provide. So far, NHT gets an A+ from all my purchases and I’ll even go out on a limb to say they get an A+ from everything I have ever heard that has the label NHT on it. Thanks NHT for making a 12’ sub that exceeds expectations!

unobtrusive

Rating:

Unobtrusive both visually and sonically. The thing is a pefect little cube, so small and the look is fantastic. I have it paired with the classic 3's and NAD amplfication. I am not versed in audiophile jargon, but I will say that it blends so well witht the 3's it is as if they are one speaker. To say I am satisfied would be an understatement. I simply won't consider another company for my speaker needs in the future. Thank you for making excellent products at palatable prices.

The Super Zero Is Back! Never go away again!

Super 8 Powered Subwoofer for SuperZero
Rating:

What more can I say about the Original super zero, I have a pair, and till today they still blow away most speakers I've heard. I'm not saying any speaker that costs $200-$400, but high end speakers costing as much as $2,000! I must admit it was a little sad to see these legendary speakers become discountinued, but that all changed! Intorducing the new Super Zero 2.0!!!! I had the privelge to listen to these puppies, and that familiar sound I am used to was alive once again! Now these speakers imaged almost exactly as the original, and were as detailed, but they did have one edge over the originals, and that would be the distortion at higher volumes. More than likely this has to do with the crossover change from 2KHz to 3.2KHz. These speakers are failry ineffieienct (86db) and will require a good, clean, powerful power source. I listened to a pair with a Rotel RB-1572 Amp delievering 100 watts @ 8ohms, and RSP-1570 processor. I also tested them with an onkyo tx-sr708 receiver, and it did very well with both, but the rotel gave it sort of a more "clarity," but my point is a more budget amp, did just fine to power these puppies. I did test these side by side with other speakers like the Paradigm Atoms, and B&W 601 series II speakers and the NHT won hands down for better detial, especially when listening to the acoustic guitar such as on Metallica's "Nothing else Matters." Of course for the best sound, a subwoofer would be needed. I did listen to these with the new Super 8 subwoofer at a crossover of 105Hz, and it filled all of those bass notes very nicely. This subwoofer is not a wimpy one my any means. It provides a deep tight bass to the Super Zero 2.0s very harmonically. Outiside the cabinet remains unchanged, the size is the same, the weight is about the same, and fairly heavy for a small speaker (a sign of quality!), and the beautiful black finish still marks it's trademark. The grill is more rounded than the original witht he new white logo, but I found listening to them without provides a better listening experience. The tweeter remains the same, but the woofer is a newer type of paper material. Lets not forget the best part of these.....$198 a pair!!!!!!!!! and if you buy his system with the super 8 (which I highly recommend), you only pay $499!!!!! yes, $499 dollars for a system that sounds like it should cost $5000!!! Also don't forget the size of these little (but muscluar speakers) are very wife friendly for those worried about space. All in all, NHT actually did put a little more "oomph" into the oiginal Super zero imporving its detial at higher volumes (IMO). These speakers will forever remain one of the most legendary speakers I've heard, not just looking at sound to price ratio, but some of the best speakers i've ever heard, Period, and I dare someone to make me a better speaker for $99 a speaker.

Fantastic Sound

Rating:

I've dreamed of having an NHT for the last 10 years. Finally pulled the trigger on a pair of Absolute Towers and I am not disappointed. Fantastic speakers with the look to match the sound. Even with my not so fantastic Home Theater in a Box receiver, everything performs wonderfully.

What a great sound from such a small package! NHT has once again come through with a high quality product at a very reasonable price! This sub is beautiful! NHT speakers have the most awesome piano black finish...match that with the sound and you just can't go wrong. I have the B-10d matched up with a pair of Classic Zero's. The sound is terrific. The bass is hard, fast, detailed, but yet remains musical. The music/movie switch on the rear of the sub works perfectly. There are numerous ways to connect this sub to your system. NHT, you have outdone yourselves with this one! If you’re new to NHT and possibly skeptical, do some online searches on their products. You won’t find anything negative…and if you purchase a pair, you will understand what the NHT stands for…NOW HEAR THIS!

Delicious for the ears

I don't know how to describe what I hear in the proper audiophile terms, but I do know these speakers sound fantastic! I listen to a lot of music, I listen for the details, and I can hear the difference when speakers sound good. And these sound great! So clear, loud or soft. I'm using them with a mid range 90's Denon integrated amp, but nothing special. Given how great they sound, I can't even imagine how extraordinary they must sound with a proper amp (next on my list)! I think the three-way design reproduces the full range of tones nicely, along with a sub. I've been listening to them just about all day in my studio for a month, and I'm still excited to sit down and listen every time I walk in. As an artist, music helps my creative process, and I can tell you these definitely contribute. Now I need to justify spending the money for more for my living room and bedroom!

I can't believe after all these years (40+) of purchasing high dollar speakers that these inexpensive speakers surpass all of them. Midrange is great and do these beautiful speakers project an image? Yes! Great rythum and punch as well. Great job NHT! I have them on 24" Target MR stands driven by a Pass Aleph 5 amp, Benchmark DAC and an Olive D4 source. Bad a$. I'm finding stuff in the music that I've listened to for years that I've never heard before.Happy to own them.

This is a good speaker. It is neutral and not forward or laid back. The music sounds more balanced and right. The tweeter is detailed and not hard or sharp. Piano, horns and guitar are good and clear with no ear fatigue. The new woofer is improved with better bass and nice midrange. Voices are clear and open with all music. This speaker is also real good for home theater. Well done NHT!

Wow, best sounding speakers I've ever owned!

Classic Four Floor Standing Tower Speaker
Rating:

Having been a longtime NHT owner, I have to say that these are my favorite NHT speakers to date. The new midrange and tweeter design is superior to anything NHT has made in the past. The tonality and vocalization is excellent. These speakers are very accurate and when given the right amount of power and source material, they exude beautifuly smooth sound. These speakers have a built in sub and let me say that I'm quite the bass head and these subs come through and hit very smooth. I use a SVS PCi+31 and when I turned off the sub during one of my bass sessions to see how these towers handled the bass. Let me say, why do I even need a seperate sub? I'm not a big rap music fan but these speakers can handle the heavy bass line of modern music. I prefer more rock and movies and these speakers really come through nicely. The craziest thing about the Classic 4 is their imaging is so excellent that I find myself turning off the DSP and listening to them in stereo mode. The imaging is so nice you'd think the voice was coming from between the speakers! You'll also hear things you've probably never heard before from your older speakers. You can start picking out instruments! After having upgraded and having listned to many NHTs over the years, I find that this is one of their best speakers ever and the fact that the new midrange and tweeter combo plays so smooth and airy that really nothing out there can compare. Spend your money wisely and spend them on these speakers! You cannot go wrong! I enjoy listening to this setup so much that I find excuses to watch old movies again and listen to my favorite CDs on this system! Yes, they're that good!

Awesome Center

Ive been into music for about 37 years, i am a Dj for the pass 32yrs and became a audiophile about 20yrs now. Home Theatre systems i've heard a ton of them but the hardest sound to reproduce is the human voice the accuracy with which these speakers reproduce vocals with is uncanny walk in the house you swear the wife had company. Watch Ratatoulle and check the sceen in the sewer but don't get wet, or the water gushing in the ship i n master and Comander or the cannon discharge at 105db makes you catch a breath. I'm not ashamed i have one of the best sounding systems on this Island and i fly the NHT flag HIGH When NHT went to the CES show i think it was they used a Arcam player i now have one which connects to my Harmond Kardon via Discovery Cable Essence if you please i can hear Diana Krall piano keys hitting the felt on her piano no kidding NHT awesome and for the price. To beat the NHT sound one would have to spend 30% more and you would still b e miserable

Rating:

During a recent remodel of my family room, the speakers were upgraded to NHT IC3's. I purchased 4 of them. I could not be happier with the sound quality and imaging especially since they are ceiling mounted. I retained my existing nht center and amplified sub. Hope to install dual in wall subs soon. I have long been impressed with NHT... My first speakers were original model ones in oiled oak finish purchased in the mid 80's. Bottom line... For music or home theater, these speakers are most satisfying.

I was looking for some better looking speakers to suite my wife and found these. I had some nice 10year old hifi surround speakers, and was expecting these to be as good as my set from a different manufacturer but was amazed at the quality of the sound that this set produces. I am loving re-watching movies and re-listening to them. They sound great at high and low volume, crisp and clean. I highly recommend these for a great home theater system, you wont be disappointed.

Unparalleled "bang" for your buck!

NHT Absolute 5.1 Surround System
Rating:

I'll start off by saying that I'm new to the true "hifi" audiophile arena having only owned "Home Theater in a Box" systems of various brands previously. They've all been of a pretty decent quality which I was happy with. That is until I got the NHT 5.1T system... First impressions were astonishing. The super high-gloss piano back lacquer finish elegantly compliments the superior rock-solid build quality of all the speakers' enclosures. This system is very visually appealing and make for a nice addition to the existing furniture in my living room. The only words that come to mind when attempting to describe the jaw-dropping sound these speakers emit are: Brilliant, Serene, Balanced and Colorful. I've been enjoying re-listening to some of my favorite music and being able to pick out sounds I never knew were there! As you might already imagine, movies sound absolutely stunning. This system manages to deliver the warmest, silkiest tones in all sounds from gun-shots, and ejecting shell casings tinging off the floor, to the deepest bassy explosions and loud music. One of the best aspects of the 5.1T system has got to be the fact that it's clarity seems never-ending whether you're listening to them at a pleasant low volume or loud enough to knock your *neighbor's* socks off. You can clearly see NHT's efforts were not in vain when engineering these speakers to be perfectly balanced. The "Ten" subwoofer really impressed me. It delivers soft, smooth, resonant bass equally at both low and high volumes without so much as a blip of distortion, or rattling your entire house to pieces; a very nice "feature" if you live in a place where you might share walls/floors. I would be willing to say that this woofer outperforms *any* other 10" sub-woofer from big-name brands that I've ever heard to date. The "Twelve" woofer must be incredible! The "Absolute Tower" speakers have precise highs, clear and full mids, and manage to create unparalleled crispy bass from its two 5.25" woofers which beautifully compliment the aforementioned "Ten" woofer the system comes with. The "Absolute Center" speaker shines in "Large mode" receiving a full-range signal. People speaking in movies now sound like they're right there in my living room; It's almost scary :) The "Absolute bookshelf" speakers also demand some serious respect with their stellar performance, imaging, and perfect blending with the "Absolute Towers" accompanied by their very reasonable price-point.All in all, I'd give this system an A+ and will continue to enthusiastically recommend these for anyone on the market. I thought I knew good sound, but now I know better and am proud to be an NHT customer.

Absolute Tower Speaker
Rating:

As current owner of 2 NHT HT setups, I thought I'd give the new Absolute Towers a try. I was pleasantly surprised at the overall smoothness and openess of the these towers. The imaging is very good for a speaker of this price and the matching Absolute Center is very good for its size! The vocal dispersion is great and it really mated well with my iC2 ceiling speakers as they suggest in the packaged deals section. I already had the iC2s prior but I did not think that they would match up so nicely. Overall, if you're on a budget and you want to go "true" hi end sound, this is a great way to get your foot in the door to the NHT sound. I can't think of another setup in this price range that can compete with sound this accurate and pleasing. I would suggest a powered sub to go along with these speakers as they don't have a deep bottom end. A great budget system with rich looks and sound. Did I mention the piano gloss finish is superb!?! Totally blows the older black laminate finishes away!
