I just submitted and identical review for the NHT Absolute Towers and the comments around the sub/product and the buying experience are the same. This is a world class subwoofer for a very fair price, I call it value. Company supports the product, is there for advice simply send a quick email and it's as though you doing text messaging..yes, that quick. Summary is this sub is as good as 98% of the people listening to albums or movie sound tracks will ever need. To spend anything beyond this or attempting to buy sonmething more expensive would be a waste. This is a class D amp'd sub, piano gloss black, line in of LFE, all the crossovers you'll need, technically as good as anything. Looks tremendous and matches timbre with the Absolute Towers, and TwoC Center/Three C Center...More on the company and a higher level review on other NHT's I've recently purchased is below. These are likely the best kept secret from the mass markets of buyers who flock to highly marketed brands such as Polk, Klipsch, JBL etc...all of which are fine product. However, if you want world-class quality, looks, sound, service, and value then buy NHT speakers. 1) I've been buying speakers, receivers, Hi-Fi gear for the past 35 years and have had the typical lines and as the wallet allowed I would upgrade. Crutchfield carries this speaker line as well and frankly that is how I found their website and spoke with the founder, Chris Byrne. Well, that did it as how often can you speak with someone who knows the supply chain from start to finish...Never. These folks are quality people and provide world-class service and product. 2) The Absolute Towers are a glossy black, 10+ coats of piano black, acrylic etc...gorgeous...solid, look better than anything I've seen. These feel and sound like they should be $1,200-1,500 each! 3) Sound: phenominal, and certainly what you drive them with will make a difference along with the music source: turntable-excellent, Yamaha higher end CD player-excellent...warm, crisp, excellent sound field, 4) Value/Service....cannot be beat. This is a California based company, quite small so you get the personal touch. You will end up at some point, if you like, speaking or emailing with Chris or John (both founders of the company). Briliant guys, know their product and respond in minutes via email, maybe an hour if they are tied up...World class service, advice and people and product... No, I don't work for the company. I'm a white collar guy from Chicago who wants to share a great story about a company that earns it everyday. Spend your money with them and step up to world class speaker quality for mass market pricing. Seriously...I don't write review hardly ever...but these guys deserve the press for what they deliver. BTW...I started with "trying" the Absolute Towers after speaking with Chris, was very impressed with our honest/sincere conversation and decided on the $400 center...Then two weeks later bought the Absolute Wall mount speakers and in spite of having 3 subwoofers already, bought the b 12-d subwoofer...so now I have the complete 5.1 system driven by a new Denon 1713, LG BluRay, Yamaha CD (higher end) CD player, with a Vizio 50' plasma... The sound will make you smile once you put on your favorite album, movie, CD...kick back with a cool one and enjoy the great decision you made....60 day return policy so you have nothing to lose...buy them.

These have got to be, without a doubt, the best bang for your buck speakers on the market. I'm using 3s for my fronts, a 3C for the center and 2s for surrounds with a Classic 12 sub and all I can say is.....holy sh*t!!!!!Words just can't express how effing good these speakers are. Just buy 'em. You won't be disappointed, I promise. Oh, and just for fun, I go to audio dealers around town and listen to systems in their showroom. After hearing speakers costing many times the price of these, when the salesman asks me what I think, I like to tell him "Well, I've got NHTs at home.....". The look on his face is priceless. I always walk away smiling.

I have a NHT Super One system similar to the one shown above for over 8 years. My system consist of a Rotel surround a sound processor and amplifiers, (5) Super Ones and a 10" SW2 sub. The sound is fantastic, the build quality of these speaker are exceptional and the cost is unbelievable. I am a very happy fan of NHT products.

B-12d Powered Subwoofer with DSP

I had heard my friends NHT speakers back in the late 90's and knew that someday I would have some when I had time and money to put into home theater. Fast forward to now and I decided that the Harmon Kardon "home theater in a box" was due to be replaced with a new receiver and new speakers. I am one of those people that researches expert and consumer opinions to make buying decisions and exhaustively searched through the internet and a lot of the forums......not a lot of NHT discussion. But based on my prior experience with my firend's NHT setup many years ago and NHT's excellent return policy, I took the leap. I spoke with both Chris and John (GREAT customer service and response) and decided to start with one B-12d and add a second one if it could not get the job done in my large living area (that is also open to the kitchen/dining room/foyer). I may elect to buy another B-12d at some point in the future but was amazed with all of the air space that ONE B-12d does the job quite well. Impact with movies is GREAT, the B-12d goes low and is super tight/clean sounding with transitions......it sounds great with music of all types too. Another friend recently bought a HSU VTF-15H and while it provides more volume, I prefer the clean sound of the sealed B-12d. I would have never expected a sub with such a small footprint to sound as large as it does. Kudos to NHT, one of the best kept secrets in home audio :-)

ThreeC Center Channel Speaker
Rating:

The ThreeC was the first NHT speaker I purchased and what led me to replace all of my other speakers with.......more NHT speakers. This speaker does a great job of pulling the front stage together while anchoring the movie vocals with the best clarity/detail of any speaker I have heard. This speaker works in conjunction with (4) Absolute wall speakers and a B-12d, all driven by an Onkyo TX-NR818, to deliver the home theater experience I was looking for but missing all these years. Friends that hear it are amazed- Thanks NHT!

Absolute Wall Speaker
Rating:

These speakers were purchased to replace some old wall mount speakers. I had originally thought I might go with Classic Threes in front and some Classic Twos in back for my 5.1 setup......and then I stumbled on these new wall speakers. They looked like a better solution aesthetically when compared to the bookshelf speaker on a wall mount, and I thought I would give them a try after some discussion with John. I was amazed at the off-axis response, the imaging, and the detail/clarity these speakers produce, all while sounding much larger than their compact size- they seem PERFECT for my application. Another great speaker from NHT, well done guys!

Absolute Tower Speaker
Rating:

I love these. They work great for movies (acceptable bass, though a sub would make them better...) and videogames, excellent for music, and look fantastic. These replaced a pair of Polk bookshelves I had for a few months and there is honestly no comparison. I've auditioned other "budget" speakers and I can honestly say I made the right choice. The mids and highs are great (though the low is a little muddy). You can bet that a sub is the next purchase. What a great product. What a great company. Keep it up, guys!

B-12d Powered Subwoofer with DSP

I have owned a surround setup including VT-2.4 towers, VS-2.4 center/satellites, HDP-2 side-surrounds and a Sub Two. When I contacted the good folks at NHT about getting the Sub Two repaired, they had me send it in so they could take a look-see. I got a call from Bob Hopkins who asked if I was still in love with my Sub Two or if he could make me an offer on some newer technology. I took a little time to think it over and called back. Chris Byrne answered the phone and he made me an offer that was just too good to refuse. Well, if you've ever heard the Sub Two, it is an awesome sounding sub; very musical and very powerful. I absolutely loved the controls being separate and placed near my pre/pro for convenient adjustments when needed. I opted for the B-12d in fact, Chris' offer was so good, I bought two! After a bit of experimenting with location and control adjustment, all I can say is OMG! These things are easily the equal of the Sub Two and more. With two subs in different parts of my listening space, the bottom end is appreciably smoother and overall even more musical. Special effects on movies are more dynamic than I ever experienced with the Sub Two (and it was awesome). Explosions create a spine-tingling sense of doom and destruction like something really bad just happened and I'd better get in touch with my insurance adjuster to assess the damage to the house. Suffice it to say: these things are awesome! If you're in the market for some new sub(s), I highly recommend you give Bob, Chris or John a call ASAP. You will not regret it. Oh yeah, the piano black finish is still just as gorgeous as always. I miss the controller of my old Sub Two but these B-12d subs are helping me to get over that in short order.

Impressive performers, great value, not crazy about the finish

Classic Three Bookshelf Loudspeaker
Rating:

I once had a pair of rear-ported bookshelf speakers and I loved them until the day I moved and had to position them against the wall, yikes! They changed on me! The Classic 3 is a very impressive bookshelf speaker that sounds great on stands, but can also work positioned close to a wall or on a shelf or close to other boundaries thanks to the lack of a port, front or rear. Classic acoustic suspension here. Bass extension is impressive, and the clarity with which acoustic instruments are reproduced evokes descriptions like smooth and clean rather than harsh and forward. I auditioned them for a delightful week and was quite pleased with everything I played, the gamut included jazz, vocals, classical, rock, electronica. In many settings they will not need a subwoofer, but of course these critters will benefit from a companion that can deliver those lower octaves for impressive cinema sound effects or the full range of acoustic bass. Add the companion ThreeC and you have an amazing LCR set up for home theater which mates together perfectly in the sonic domain. Yes, there are better sounding speakers out there, I've heard many of them over the years at friend's houses and the CES High End Audio Show, however, I can say confidently that any speaker that out-performs the Classic Three will no doubt come with a higher price tag, there is no doubt as far as that's concerned. Forget what reviews say about these or any other speaker, trust your ears, Luke! My only serious gripe with the Classic Threes is that I'm not crazy about the shiny piano-black finish. I prefer warm tones in my visual field. I understand wood veneers add substantially to the cost of speakers and NHT is all about great sound at moderate prices and thus the one-finish-fits-all approach makes sense, put your money where the sound is, and yet, it would be nice if wood finishes were at least an option. I would gladly pay more for wood finish. because for my decor, shiny black speakers that look like something Darth Vader would have in his den just don't work for me in the end. But when you close your eyes you will quickly forget what the Classic Threes look like as you are transported right into the music, with the full range of sonic colors painting a picture of musical pleasure.

Back in my college and Navy days my buddies and I would head down to the local HIFI store and drool over the wares. I had dreams of Celestions, DCM Time Windows, and Magneplanars. Of course I had no money and no place to put them. Fast forward a few years and I scored a pair of Advents at a garage sale. They were good but long in the tooth. A few years later my career took off and I could afford luxuries like a bitchin’ two channel rig. In 1999 I headed to Audio FX in Sacramento, CA and met my first audio love – a pair of NHT 2.5i speakers in mahogany finish driven by an Acuras DIA-150. What a sweet sounding system. 12 years later I was still enjoying my first love until a mid-range driver was blown (middle daughter is prime suspect). I could not find a replacement driver so off to the NHT factory showroom I went. Of course I bought a pair of Classic Fours. I won’t review them as so many people and magazines have but I will tell you why they outperform the 2.5i. Wider sound stage with a larger sweet spot. Much, much deeper and tighter bass. Mid-range packs a must have punch even better. More clarity at the high frequencies. Additionally, the Fours will be the basis of an updated surround sound system that requires no subwoofer; I will bi-amplify them. Bottom line: Love is fickle and I now have a new love, my NHT Classic Fours! PS. I already converted a Bose Acoustimass® owner to the world of true high end audio. FYI, I have another NHT rig, a near field audio set up for my graphic arts workstation that includes a pair of SuperZero 2.0s mounted on solid wood block desktop stands, a Super 8 Powered Subwoofer, a HRT Music Streamer Pro 24/96 USB DAC, and a 100w per channel amp (except for wood stands, all uniquely available at NHT!). Best way to describe the system is that I have the best of two worlds: high end headphones meets high end speakers. Speakers are spaced four feet apart so the system has a very small sweet spot, but that bubble is sheer audio bliss.

As others have noted they look really nice and not obtrusive at all. ID sales with John was effortless and help make my NHT purchasing experience excellent.

TwoC Center Channel Speaker
Rating:

I picked up a TwoC to go along with some VT-2 towers (simply amazing sound stage reproduction btw). Movie dialogue via the TwoC is awesome. I no longer have to fiddle with volume levels when watching movies/shows as I did when I was running my previous center channel. Much of the content we watch is MP4 compressed and the TwoC reproduces crisp dialogue even with these compressed sources; something my previous center had a hard time with. Chris helped me out with my purchase and gave me some good advice as well. I'm really enjoying my new setup!

I wanted you to know that I got a bug just after I received the 3’s and (B-12d) sub to go out and spend 4 or $5000.00 on a new set of main speakers. I was able to bring my Classic Three’s to the store’s to directly compare them. What Fun!! Well, my humble 3’s beat two out of three of the speakers I compared them to!!! Focal Chorus 836W @ $4950.00 a pair, and Totem Forrest at $3990.00 a pair. I cant tell you how amazed I was, as I was very impressed with both these speakers when I auditioned them on there own the first time. The ones that beat the Classic Three’s were the PSB Synchrony One @ $4995.00 a pair. Better yes, but not by much!! How the heck did you come up with these amazing speakers. Hell, my Classic Three and B-12d sub combination are only $1600.00 for the whole set. There seems to be some sort of magic at work some where here. Seriously, I can’t believe what I have for the money! I am using a Bryston B-135sst2 integrated amplifier (which I only just received) and a Simaudio Moon CD player as my source. I wish I knew a way you could let more people living in Canada know how incredible your speakers are! Suffice to say, after those experiences I will be keeping my Classic Three’s and B-12d combination for a very very long time. Thanks again for the gift of music...
